Week 3.2 – Vapor barrier

Today, we also able to put the first layer for the house body which is “Dampfbrense”. It is a layer to prevent the house from humidity. We stapled this layer directly on the wood and used TESCON Vana blue tape to seal between 2 layers and also sealed all the parts where we stapled.

Week 3.1 – Roof framing

They have finished the roof framing when I arrived in the workshop =D I think this is quite a difficult and tricky part. I have spent a lot of time figuring out the angle when I drew the plan. We have 2 different angles for our roof and one main ridge in the middle.

This is a very informative site in German explaining different forms and ways that we can build the roof – https://www.tiny-house-projekt.ch/tiny-house-wissen/dach/

Week 2 – Framing

I missed the part when G built the subfloor with our carpenter. So basically, after the “Siebdruckplatte” layer, we have the floor framing on top of it. They have built it in this way – after measuring and cutting the correct size of “Siebdruckplatte”, they built the floor framing according to the plan and fix the “Siebdruckplatte” on top of the framing first then turned over the whole “Siebdruckplatte + floor framing” combination and fixed it well on the trailer.

Today, I found out that the trailer height is actually 52cm, it is not 44cm according to the information on Vlemmix website. We quickly made adjustment on the another half of our framing and made sure that the house is not more than 4m height.

This is how we fix the “Siebdruckplatte + floor framing” on the trailer.

For framing, we have used “KVH Holz” in 4.5cm x 10cm size for floor framing and the house framing. We have used 4.5cm x 12cm size for our roof framing. It means, we have 10cm thick insulation and 12cm thick insulation in our roof.

Putting up the second part of the framing

Week 1

Let’s get started! Today is the day we moved our trailer into the workshop. First layer, we had to stick the “Anti Rutsch Matte” on all the metal part of the trailer. Our Carpenter bought this material in 3mm thickness but actually it is better to use 5mm thick, because the trailer is not completely flat, there are some metal parts where they fixed the wheel are higher than the trailer itself. He bought it from – https://www.esska.de/shop

Second layer is a material called “Siebdruckplatte”. We had used 9mm thick. We had to measure and cut all the boards into the size that we wanted and also made sure each connection between two boards laid on the metal part of the trailer.
