Week 17.3 – Exhibiton

Alex had a little wish that we can exhibit the house in the city center. We were so worry a day before about the move of the house, as we were not sure about the weight and so on. We are glad that everything went smoothly and we brought back the house to the workshop safely. huuu….

There were a lot of curious people, some think that the house is very cool, some think that it is a house only for holiday, some think that this is a house for 1 person or just for student, some think that this is the future for people to afford a house and etc. Most of them they concern about the size of the house, the planning permission (Baugenehmigung), how much does it cost and the most important question is where to put it.

What I know that in Germany, if you place the house on the camping place or tiny house village, you do not need planning permission for the house but you need to register the trailer to get a car plate and TÜV (not more than 4m high, 2.5m wide and 3.5 tons) then you are able to tow it. If you want to put at someone else garden, you need to get planning permission.

Week 17.2 – Storage Staircase

Day 2 , we continued the build in the school. Below are the steps how we build. First we need to use the machine like below make a hole where we want to combine.

The holes look like this.
Then I glued the connectors into each hole.
Then we combine all the part carefully.
After we making sure they combine well, we put on screws on both sides.
We brought back part by part from the school to the tiny house workshop
Alex combined all parts together and made some adjustment. For example, bottom part of the staircase need to be cut away because of the wheel well.
I slept in the house on the second night =p

Week 17.1 – Storage Staircase

This week is very exciting. We have done a lot, including the storage staircase, and exhibition in the city center and also meet with people from the company who will manage the transport for us. I divide my post about this week into 3 parts.

We have chosen “3-Schicht Fichte C+” board for our storage staircase. First, I sketched up a plan that I want and make a list of all sizes of the board we need. Alex sent the list to Bauhaus and they cut all the boards accordingly. Please check out here for the plan – https://flowwiththetiny.home.blog/the-staircase-storage/

Alex showed me the professional way to build furniture. It was very interesting and of course I have learned something as well.

We picked up all our boards from Bauhaus.
Alex is a wood teacher, we built the furniture in his school. We brought the furniture part by part with the little car back to the tiny house workshop.
As there was a party in the WG that I always stay over night, I tried to sleep in the tiny house for the first time =p

Week 15

The outer side of house is in the final stage. Alex has completed all part of the roof. My task in this week is still painting. 🙂 Alex has cut some woods into L Shape, they are for the window frames, they look super nice and it gives the house a nice touch, I really like this finishing. It is a lot of works though =p

Between, this is my cozy corner in the WG close to our workshop. Thanks to the people in the WG, let us stay while we are building the house.

Week 14

This week we have done a lot of different small tasks. There is a lot of painting jobs for me. I painted the whole house again and also have put silicon all around window from inside.

Finally, we received another side of our facade, so we can finish painting.

We also tried to weigh the house today to find out if we can tow the house. Thanks Samuel and Philip, friends from Alex have spent their time in the rain helping us to weigh the house. Unfortunately, we didn’t know how to use the device correctly, it showed 9000kg. Then we gave up in trying and tried to find other way to bring the house. We were hoping the house is below 3.5 tons and Alex is willing to bring the house to us. I just worried about the transport, it is 550km away from Regensburg, it is better to use special transport than towing it all the way to the north.
